The Imaging Center of Montville announced that it has acquired a new, state-of-the-art, CT imaging system from GE Healthcare.
Developed for a wide diversity of patients with different ages, sizes and physical conditions, the Ingenia 3.0T has features that will put you at ease.
A Breast MRI is a medical test where magnetic fields, radiowaves and an advanced computer are used to produce very detailed images of the breasts without using X-rays.
Used to help diagnose cancers, cardiac diseases, and neurological disorders, the positron emission tomography/computed tomography, or PET-CT, combines the power of Positron Emission Tomography or PET scanning, with diagnostic CT imaging to create a single image which offers both functional and anatomic information.
"Open," low field scanners may be more appropriate for some patients, such as true claustrophobics, those with a larger body or who have conditions that may result in painful positioning and those involved in movement studies. The patient should be made aware of the differences in quality and time and the potential that an additional scan might be required.
All mammograms work by sending X-rays through the breast tissue to obtain images. These pictures are then analyzed for abnormalities and assessed for changes from previous tests. Whether your doctor recommends a film or digital mammogram, your testing experience will be the same.
MORRIS COUNTY, N.J., Dec. 27, 2012 /PRNewswire-iReach/ — The Imaging Center of Montville announced today that it has acquired a new, state-of-the-art, CT imaging system from GE Healthcare.
The LightSpeed® VCT is the world’s first Volume Computed Tomography (VCT) system, it is fast and accurate, offering a 40% less dose of radiation and a 30% better LCD depending on the clinical task, patient size, anatomical location and clinical practice The Imaging Center of Montville now offers an innovative way for its area physicians to obtain the information they need to diagnose disease and life-threatening illnesses, including cardiovascular disease, stroke and chest pain.
The Imaging Center of Montville’s radiologist’s are now able to capture images of a beating heart in five heartbeats, an organ in one second, and perform whole body trauma in ten seconds, more than twice as fast as conventional multi-slice CT scanners. This speed is especially helpful in shortening breath holds for geriatric patients and pediatric patients.
Our new Volume CT system allows our radiologists to perform new and enhanced procedures and obtain the information they need to diagnosis patients who are suffering from chest pain or stroke. Volume CT is patient friendly. Fast scans can help reduce patient stress and anxiety, and some of the volume CT procedures can be done in only one simple exam.”
The Imaging Center of Montville can immediately offer the following innovative procedures to be performed on their new LightSpeed VCT:
- 5-Beat Cardiac™ – The radiologist’s at The Imaging Center of Montville can capture images of the whole heart and coronary arteries in just five heartbeats – providing clearer images of cardiovascular anatomy and a shorter breath hold for sick and elderly patients.
- Triple RuleOut™ – Three primary causes of mortality in patients with chest pain are aortic dissection, pulmonary embolism and coronary artery disease. The radiologist’s at The Imaging Center of Montville now have a tool to help them rule out (or in) these three individual causes of patient’s chest pain through a single quick scan.
- Stroke Work-Up – Once a stroke occurs, it is commonly believed that treatment must be delivered within an hour or less to ensure the best outcome for the patient. The LightSpeed VCT offers The Imaging Center of Montville the speed and resolution required for rapid imaging of blood vessels in the brain. This enables physicians to make a quick diagnosis and determine the best course of treatment while reducing the number of exams a patient may need to undergo.
In a single rotation, the LightSpeed VCT creates 64 high-resolution anatomical images as thin as a credit card. These images are combined to form a three-dimensional view of the patient’s anatomy for the radiologists at The Imaging Center of Montville to analyze. From these images, physicians can view such things as blockages in the coronary arteries, as well as the motion and pumping action of a patient’s heart.
“We’re breaking barriers in speed and accuracy of patient exams and are now able to offer new and enhanced diagnostic procedures thanks to our new LightSpeed VCT. The technology is greatly benefiting both the physicians and patients of Montville and the surrounding area.
We’re excited to be one of the few premier diagnostic radiology centers to offer this medical technology in New Jersey.
